Story Behind The Song
In another life I worked with a group of folks who wanted to get a four lane road built through our Southeast Iowa region connecting us to St. Louis and Minneapolis/St. Paul. The road is now built and is known as the "Avenue of Saints"

Lyrics
From the arches on the river
To the cities they call twin
It matters not where you travel
Or the state that you might be in
The people always greet you
Provide you shelter from the rain
On the Avenue
Of the saints
That's where you'll find me
That where I'll be
On the Avenue
Called Saints
The world's richest soils
Planted each and every spring
Earth black like coffee
Nature's harvest she will bring
Corn beans and barley
Beef bread and brew
On the Avenue
Of the Saints
That's where you'll find me
That where I'll be
On the Avenue
Called Saints
On the Avenue
On the Avenue
On the Avenue
On the Avenue
That's where you'll find me
That where I'll be
On the Avenue
Called Saints
Well there's cities full of people
And there's towns full of pride
There's room for the living
And Respect for those who die
The truth is nothing new there
There's no need to explain
On the avenue
Of the saints
That's where you'll find me
That where I'll be
On the Avenue
Called Saints
From the arches on the river
To the cities they call twin
It matters not where you travel
Or the state that you might be in
The people always greet you
Provide you shelter from the rain
On the Avenue
Of the saints
That's where you'll find me
That where I'll be
On the Avenue
Called Saints
On the Avenue
On the Avenue
On the Avenue
On the Avenue
