I was sitting at home watching an episode of Ellen on tv. It was a story about a young boy who had been bullied in school and it was so moving that it inspired me to write this lyric.

Lyrics
THE KIND OF HEROES THAT WE NEED
DANNY WAS 6 YEARS OLD, IN KINDERGARTEN
GOD MADE HIM A SPECIAL LITTLE GUY
A QUIET BOY, SO KIND-HEARTED
WHO ALWAYS DRESSED IN A JACKET AND TIE
HE GOT BULLIED IN SCHOOL
BUT A BOY NAMED TOMMY CAME TO HIS RESCUE
HE RALLIED A BAND OF BOYS AND DANNY WAS SO SURPRISED
WHEN THEY SHOWED UP ONE DAY ALL WEARING A SUIT AND TIE
CHORUS
THOSE ARE THE KIND OF HEROES THAT WE NEED
THEY MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE FOR YOU AND ME
IMAGINE THE CHANGES WE WOULD SEE IF WE ALL DID ONE GOOD DEED
LET'S TAKE THEIR LEAD
THOSE ARE THE KIND OF HEROES THAT WE NEED
SANDY WAS HER NAME AND WHEN SHE HIT THE EAST COAST
HER SCREAMING WINDS DEVASTATED TOWNS
ROOFS BLEW OFF, STREETS TURNED INTO RIVERS
IT WAS TOTAL CHAOS ALL AROUND
THERE WERE SOME BRAVE SOULS
WHO JUMPED INTO FREEZING WATERS SAVING PEOPLE THEY DIDN'T KNOW
OTHERS WERE IN THEIR BOATS SEARCHING FLOODED HOMES
LOOKING FOR PEOPLE STRANDED IN THE STORM
BRIDGE
THE ONES WHO TEACH COMPASSION
THE ONES WHO FIGHT FOR FREEDOM
THE ONES WHO GIVE A HELPING HAND
CHORUS
