Lyrics
[VERSE 1]
One hundred years ago
Because of wind and snow
The Henry B. Smith met its fate
How could they have known
25 men upon the ship
Lost their lives that night
A massive gale swept the ship and crew Away... and out of sight
[CHORUS 1]
(In 1913) their captain made an everlasting mistake
(In 1913) the storm was just too great
Now we know who's Superior... Lake Superior
[VERSE 2]
The ship left Marquette shore that day, Filled with iron ore
It was a large freighter for its time, But it was not secure
The Lake has taken many ships
Beyond the Golden Gates
And each and every one of them didn't know that they had met their fate
[CHORUS 2]
(In 1913) they sailed into eternity
(In 1913) they were lost too easily
[INSTRUMENTAL BREAK]
[OUTRO]
One hundred years ago, because of wind and snow
The Henry B. Smith met its fate, how could they have known
25 men upon the ship lost their lives that night
A massive gale swept the ship and crew away... and out of sight
