Story Behind The Song
"Just as I was considering trying some collaboration, Darren Gibbons approached me to see if I was interested in working with him. I made sure he knew how old I was and he was too polite to withdraw the offer.
Not knowing where to start (my last collaboration was in 1964). I sent him some lyrics that I had, to see if he could come up with a tune. He changed a few words and sent me a melody which I developed and changed to a minor key.
He was happy to leave the arrangement and performance up to me for this one, so here it is!" (June 2017)

Lyrics
Face of an Angel (by Alan Gillis and Darren Gibbons)
Verse1
I'm gonna chop down the tree where I carved your name
Burn every mem'ry that still remains
My friends all told me you must be losing your head
Keep away from that girl or you'll wish you were dead
Bridge
They were right, I can't fight it. All my senses are dead
I can't sleep any more, no use going to bed
'til I've wiped her memory right out of my head
Chorus
Tell me woman are you some kind of witch
Destroying lives just for kicks?
With your negative heart and your evil design
And the face of an angel to hide behind.
Verse 2
Never thought any woman could hurt me this way
I'll love her and hate her 'til my dying day
My friends all told me that girl will do you no good
I didn't believe them - I misunderstood
