Story Behind The Song
I was trying to teach myself a guitar version of piano piece from the classical era but got side tracked by a very beautiful progression of chords in that piece. Once I reworked the chords and came up with the melody, the words just fell into place.
Song Description
"I Think Its Time To Rest" was originally intended to be a lullaby and the lyrics were the thoughts a parent might have or say at their child's bedside in the evening. But when I heard that someone I didn't know had incorporated the song into their self-designed memorial service I started wondering about my own lyrics. A lot of listeners have since told me the song moved them because they had lost someone close to them.

Lyrics
I think its time to rest now
I will lay your head down
There's nothing to fear
I'm here
I know you don't believe me
You're so afraid to leave me
And go in your dreams
And if I could go with you together we'd fly
Across these dark oceans into the blue sky
But I'm landlocked and tired stuck on dry ground
Get off on your journey and don't turn around
I think its time to rest now
I will lay your head down
There's nothing to fear
I'm here I'm here
Don't hang on to me child
My world is wild
And if I could go with you into the night
Up over the darkness into the light
But we can't go together You won't understand
I'm right here beside you Holding your hand.
I think its time to rest now
I will lay your head down
There's nothing to fear
I'm here I'm here
