Coulda Shoulda Woulda

Story Behind The Song

It became the anthem of The Rowing Club Yacht Club in Vancouver where I ran the music night every Friday. I wrote one verse/chour at a time and tried it out each week until it all worked. All the sailors loved it and sang along with the chorus.

Song Description

Looking back on what you didn't do in life in a humorous way. Kind of a fun, tongue in cheek looser anthem.

CHORUS
Coulda, coulda, coulda, shouda, woulda, maybe baby might have been
Still kinda, wishin' I could finda, little niche where I fit in
Bada Bing Bang Boom, It's all over too soon. Can I go 'round again?
Coulda, coulda, coulda, shouda, woulda,, maybe baby might have been.

VERSE 1
There's a guy I know who just won't let go of all his dreams though they're passing him by
He's still waiting on the things that heard life brings,
"Hey, what about me? ", he cries.
"Where's my life, where's my beautiful wife,
Where's the big house and the cars?"
He forgot that he was rich when he didn't have a stitch
Out dancing underneath the stars.

CHORUS

VERSE 2
There's a girl I know who's been looking for a guy
But if a good one comes along she'll pass him by.
Always settin' her sights on impossible heights
Out gazin' at the stars each night
Up, up go all her hopes like a big balloon
Down, down go all her dreams, like a sinking moon.
the world keeps on a spinning it never slows
And round and round life goes.

CHORUS

VERSE 3
When I think bout my life, what I could have done.
All the things I should have tried, the race I didn't run
I know I made mistakes, had my share of lucky breaks,
now my hindsight's crystal clear,
And every now and then I think I'll give-er once again
When I'm staring into the mirror.
But if the going gets tough I'll probably say; "well that's enough,
Time to kick back and crack another beer".
