Story Behind The Song
No story, just a rock-bottom day driving to a funeral and having to pull over to capture these lyrics. Blubbered through the funeral too. Great way to write blues tunes.
Song Description
A song about losing love--not quickly, but by slow realization that it's gone. Nobody ever says it, but they both know its over and are suffering through the sad, gradual letting go. Nice lyrical twist in the last verse.

Lyrics
It?s Just the Blues
He still tells her that she?s pretty
And his kiss comes right on cue
Still she knows that something?s changed
But when she asks him to explain
He says it?s just the blues.
So she?s trying to be perfect
And to disregard the clues
As long as he is staying
She?ll believe in what he?s saying
When he says it?s just the blues
She?s so fearful of the day
That he?ll come right out and say
That the sweet love they took for granted
Has faded away
So she tries to play along
As if nothing was wrong
But her heart is slowly breaking
And she can?t pretend for long
She?s softly weeping at the table
As he reads the morning news
When he finally glances at her
And says Darlin? what?s the matter.
She says it?s just the blues.
