Story Behind The Song
none in particular - at the time i wrote the song i was trying to learn how to knit. i liked the idea of a string metaphor and I like the word 'tangled'. so the knitting never really got off the ground but it led to the song.

Tangled Things

Hey, are you listening
You have such a way with silence
And holding your attention
Was never something I could do
Well, I think I'm becoming a reminder
Of every thing you try to put behind you
I don't wanna be the rope that binds you
To a lie, to a lie
Like your hands in my hair
The weakest strands suspend us here
The press of fingers interlaced
Is the most resistance I will face
So I'll find the origin of
All of this unraveling
And I'll pull the loosest strings
No I won't hold on to anything
Oh we're such tangled things
Tell me was it your idea or mine
To drag around this love for all this time
Until its twisted and stained
Nothing good remains
You don't have to say a single word
In the silences I've already heard
Tonight when I am slipping thru your hands
Let me go, let me go
Like your hands in my hair
The weakest strands suspend me here
The press of fingers interlaced
Is the most resistance you will face
I give these frayed edges
The best you can do to mend this
Just pull these strings for me
Unthread the needle
Will you look me in the eye
We're such tangled things
We're such tangled things.
We're just tangled things.
And oh, find the start
It's not hard
To come undone
Hey are you listening
You have such a way with silence
And holding your attention
Was never something I could do
