Story Behind The Song
Barely a teenager, this young girl falls in love with a man twice her age. It is immediately apparent that the relationship does not have the approval of her friends or family. She is also faced with great insecurity about the difference in age, fearing that she will not be able to keep her lover interested in her for very long despite reassurances. Faced with the great difference in age, the older man is more convinced of the validity of love than the young girl. As the relationship continues, the older man applies more pressure than the young girl is able to bear, yet, because the relationship is so good, the young girl is hopeful and anticipates the possibility that this could be true love, and speculates what the future could hold.

Verse 1:
Love, what do I mean to you? Feel - ings are so new.
All my heart, I can-not give to you, for I am too young.
Babe, what do you mean to me? Your love sets me free.
Can't you see all that I offer you - until our young love is strong?
And so we live from day to day -
As we wonder why - love seems to chase us.
Where, where do we go from here? Still hiding from love.
Can we share all that we have to give, until our time is all gone?
Verse 2:
Love, you mean so much to me; say, can this be true?
Will this love become old memories, will my heart become blue?
Where, where do we go from here? Still hiding from truth.
Precious love, look what we have to give - until our time is all gone.
And so we live from day to day -
As we wonder why - love seems to chase us.
Now, what does the future hold? Will love set us free?
We can't know what life will bring to us - when we are no longer young.
