Lyrics
My Friend Jane
by Stephanie Long June, 2006
I have a friend named Jane.
She?s a delightful sort of gal.
She works as a personal trainer and
sells Body Shop as well.
It was on a routine mammogram
that they noticed a little spot.
It looked like maybe something
and then again maybe not.
CHORUS
My friend Jane is trim and fit
and she takes her vitamins too.
If cancer can get to my friend Jane,
then cancer can get to you.
The next week Jane had a biopsy.
It came back positive.
She scheduled a lumpectomy,
then waited for the news.
The answer could have been better.
Doctors worried there might be more.
So now Jane's had a mastectomy
and chemo to make sure.
CHORUS
My friend Jane loves God and her family
and her crazy dog Daisy too.
If cancer can get to my friend Jane,
then cancer can get to you.
Jane is one in seven
and a lucky one, after all
Her cancer is still at an early stage
She?ll come through it very well.
The message to all women is:
Have a yearly mammogram
It?s a simple test, it could save your breast
and it might just save your life.
CHORUS
My friend Jane loves God and her family
and her crazy dog Daisy too.
If cancer can get to my friend Jane,
then cancer can get to me and you.
If cancer can get to my friend Jane,
then cancer can get to you.
