Story Behind The Song
While rafting down the Colorado River, I noticed that there was a secondary stream going in the opposite direction of the main river. The boatman said it was called a 'back eddy' and you could get stuck in it if you weren't careful. "Just like my life!" I thought, and wrote this song.
Song Description
Life is passing me by. Everyone seems to be having fun except me. I'm stuck in a backward current in a backwater town.

Lyrics
Back Eddy Blues
Words & Music by Elly Wininger (BMI)
I got the Back Eddy Blues and I don't know which way to row.
I got the Back Eddy Blues and I don't know which way to row.
It seems the harder I pull, the farther upstream I go.
I float by the scenery I know I've seen before.
I float by the scenery I know I've seen before.
But this old Back Eddy's got me. Can't even get to shore.
Well I see the bright lights twinkling. The party's drawing near.
I hear those voices calling, but I can't get there from here.
I got the Back Eddy Blues and I don't know which way to row.
It seems the harder I pull, the farther upstream I go.
I know there's something happening. It's just around the bend.
But I can't seem to get there. When will this whirlpool end?
I got the Back Eddy Blues and I don't know which way to row.
It seems the harder I pull, the farther upstream I go.
How long how long 'till this Back Eddy lets me go?
How long how long 'till this Back Eddy lets me go?
I got the Back Eddy blues, I believe I'm sinking low.
