Story Behind The Song
Written on a break during a gig one cold rainy day in Nashville. I felt like I didnt belong there anymore and the ocean and sand were calling me home. I love what I learned in Nashville but could no longer call it my home. I moved back to the beach within 2 months.

Lyrics
SO HE SAILS
(Eric Stone/Jimmy Maltese)
Intro
D, Dmaj7, Am7 G twice
D Dmaj7
On a cold day up in Nashville, he tunes up his guitar
Am7 G
Praying that someday he will become a star
D Dmaj7
Top 40, rock and country are the only tunes he plays
Am7 G
But he'll never get discovered at the Courtyard Cafe
A
So he packs up his acoustic and he points his compass South
A7
Because ballads, beaches, bars and boats are what he's all about
CHORUS:
D Dmaj7
So he sails in his dreams
Am7 G
Sometimes he needs to lose touch with reality
D Dmaj7
He rides the rails down in the Keys
Am7 G
He knows now deep inside it's where he's meant to be
A D
So he sails
Gm D
When the sun sets down at Mallory Square
Gm A D
He pulls out his old guitar
F# Bm E7
And docks his sailboat within earshot of the pier
G (walk down to Em) A
And forgets about those plans he made of becoming a star
D Dmaj7
Now reggae songs and Buffett are the favorite tunes he plays
Am7 G
At the Conch Republic Seafood Company everyday
D Dmaj7
And when his work is done he takes his schooner out
Am7 G
And anchors by the pier to watch the sun go down
A
When the tourists settle in they're rooms, his spinnaker flies high
A7
And the light of a billion stars sparkle in his eyes
(Repeat chorus twice)
