Story Behind The Song
There are too many stories of women and men who's lives have been forever altered by the inaction of others in dealing with child sexual abuse. A warning of sexual and disturbing content does not protect all people trying to have a normal life. No longer able to simply watch tv with friends. Withdrawing at odd moments. Seguaying conversations at bars by buying drinks. Waking to news reports daily of another victim and another and another. Like I said there are too many of us. I recognize the way the eyes glaze over in a dull death and then cover quickly with a plastic smile. Some watch these shows for the feeling of not being alone. Some see so many of them now, so popular and fear the interest is too voyeuristic. There is no single story that captures everyone's truth. This is one story.
Song Description
A child is taken from a sandbox and sexually abused by some curious teens. Not every child has a champion and not every story has a happy ending. In this song, no one comes into the life of a little girl to protect her or help her make sense of her abuse. Even when she tells her parents it is swept away like a dirty secret. As and adult t.v. shows depict similar events for entertainment. There is no comfort for her.

Lyrics
They should have know better
Should have left her alone
Alone in her sandbox
She was not far from home
They should have know better
They shouldn't have touched her
Left alone with her toys
But egged on by eachother
They were curious boys
But they shouldn't have touched her
chorus:
Now all the King's horses
All the King's men
Will never be able
To piece her together again
They chose to do nothing
When she told of the games
That left her bleeding and naked
They protected their names
They chose to do nothing
And no one protects her
When it tears at her dreams
She is so far from normal
She hears that in her screams
No one protects her
Now all the King's horses
All the King's men
Will never be able
To piece her together again
For some voyeur's enjoyment
When she lays down her head
Pedophiles on the TV
That's the nightmare she dreads
For some voyeur's enjoyment
Now all the King's horses
All the King's men
Will never be able
To piece her together again
They should have know better
Should have left her alone
Alone in her sandbox
She was not far from home
They should have known better
Now all the King's horses
All the King's men
Will never be able
To piece her together again (chorus 2X)
They shouldn't have touched her
They shouldn't have touched her
They shouldn't have touched her
