Story Behind The Song

I sat back the other night thinking about my life. I'm 26. I know I've wanted a career with music since I was old enough to remember, and then some. I've stuck close to God with it, and I've always put my best foot forward in it. I believe it was a gift.. But I also believe that the Lord gives everybody something to call their own. This song is my point of view to the world of people that have that.. And sometimes spend their whole lives pursuing a way to make it a reality. All of the prayers, and hard work, you find pay themselves off when you see what's been given to you, is yours and yours alone.. I just wanted to share mine.

Song Description

This is the first song to come out of my new piano. Lyrically I'd say, this is the deepest song I have. It's more personal for me, because I know how much I've wanted this career all my life. I had to write a song that summed all the prayers I've had over the years.. I hope you enjoy

Lyrics

Got caught up in the make believe
& gathered up my past
So many times I know I've let you down
you put me back on my feet

So light this path you set before me
cause it don't work without you
& keep me always in the palm of your hand
...and I'll do the best that I can

& now I've got some choices
& I don't know what lies ahead
sometimes the road don't look so bright
sometimes I find I'm mislead

& I keep hopin' for my time to come
..Lord you know that fire burns
& I've done everything, you'd have me do
...now it's your turn

So light this path you set before me
cause it don't work without you
& keep me always in the palm of your hand
...and I'll do the best that I can

I wish I knew the ending
with so many things, I've yet to see
but I'll walk away, from this life that I've made
in peace

so light this path you set before me
cause it don't work without you
& keep me always in the palm of your hand
...and I'll do the best that I can

I'll take what you've given to me
and I'll do the best that I can.
