Story Behind The Song
Although reflective at both an individual level and perhaps even at a societal level this song was written at a time in my life when I was unsure as to whether I should follow my path as a songwriter or an academic. I'm glad I chose the former!
Song Description
Why Don't You come In? is a song about human growth - from being an innocent child to being a true adult in control of their own life and destiny. It proposes that we all become kings upon our own thrones.

Lyrics
Why Don't You Come In?
I saw my time escape itself
I put my mind in overdrive
I watched my dreams take myself
to life upon the other side
Why don't you come in from innocence?
why don't you come in from the cold?
why don't you come in from innocence?
how many times x3
do you have to be told?
I saw your face, it looked so tired
your dreams had almost expired
like some driftwood in a sea of guilt
why do you look so surprised?
Why don't you come in from innocence?
why don't you come in from the cold?
why don't you come in from innocence?
Yeah how many times x3
do you have to be told?
I drank bad whisky in London Town
it was their Queen who denied
life to all but a chosen few
as the mothers and the babies cried
Why don't you come in and look around?
look around your own home
why don't you come in, let life surround
who's that king x3
upon your throne?
Why don't you come in from innocence?
why don't you come in from the cold?
why don't you come in from innocence?
Yeah, who's that king x3
upon your throne?
