Lyrics
Mr God
I was sitting by the phone just the other day, feeling lonely, cold and sad
When a funny thing happened to me, I thought I must be going mad
It was the kind of day with nothing to do (I guess you know the kind)
So I started reading the telephone book and it nearly blew my mind
The "a"s were awful, the "b"s were boring, "c"s were much the same
The "d"s, "e"s, "f"s were twice as bad, but the "g"s simply blew my brain.
Hey Mr God - let me explain
I found your number in the telephone book so I rang up to complain
Hey Mr God - I won't take too long.
I just think that you ought to know where I think you got it wrong.
So why is there famine, war, terror, corruption, pestilence hate and vice
pollution, church collusion in the final solution and melting polar ice?
Why extend your mission through the Spanish inquisition, why not heal amputees?
And justify the tactic of not letting prophylactics prevent orphans from disease
Hey Mr God - let me explain
I found your number in the telephone book so I rang up to complain
Hey Mr God - I won't take too long.
I just think that you ought to know where I think you got it wrong.
You son had no ambition, just a table magician turning water into wine
And if we can't agree to care about the planet that we share how's that intelligent design?
But the reason I called you was none of these things, you see my problem now is this
I got no money, no job, no woman, no dope, and there's no beer in my fridge
Hey Mr God - let me explain
I found your number in the telephone book so I rang up to complain
Hey Mr God - I won't take too long.
I just think that you ought to know where I think you got it wrong.
