Savior ©1996 Rob Holzer
Written by: Rob Holzer
I was running around in my hometown trying to find my reason.
Searching for the answers to the silly riddles I rhymed.
I never could find my peace of mind, my perfect absolute truth or a telephone booth
to call up God and say "hey man, can you toss me a sign or read me a line from that
great big book you wrote for the people? You know, the one that talks about
consequence and diligence, and love thy brother and love thy mother" and
speaking of love, yeah love, while I was running around in my hometown
trying hard to find my reason,
I found you.
You just might be my savior,
or you just might be a friend.
Got me acting on my best behavior.
What will it all mean in the end?
And its not like when I found you I just stopped with all the riddles,
and its not like all these questions were all answered one by one,
but its more like when I'm holding you in my arms as we lay on the couch on a lazy Saturday, with the rain pulsing outside,
these questions just fade...they just lose significance you know?
You just might be my savior,
or you just might be a friend.
Got me acting on my best behavior.
What will it all mean in the end?
Yeah you just might be my savior,
or you just might be a friend.
Got me acting on my best behavior.
What will it all mean in the end?
Well I know that I can't own you,
or hold you accountable for my dreams, but I,
hope that I can hold you,
every night before I drift away into the darkness of my innermost thoughts and fears, watch them boil to the surface and drown me, drown me,
throw me a line.
You just might be my savior,
or you just might be a friend.
Got me acting on my best behavior.
What will it all mean in the end?
Yeah you just might be my savior,
or you just might be a friend.
Got me acting on my best behavior.
What will it all mean in the end?
