Story Behind The Song
From Steve Bibbo and Willie Weatherly, this was part of the Acme Boogie Company's repertoire. Steve sang lead and played keyboards. Sam Cooper played guitar and sang vocal harmonies. Willy McGrath played bass and Mike Gray played drums. At the end, that's Karen Cassidy Leedham with the contentious vocal female part. This was recorded around 1989 at Shore Fire Recording in Long Branch, NJ.

Been working all week just to pay the rent,
Come Friday night, all my money's spent,
Give me a woman who'll give it up for free.
I got a drinkin' problem and my old lady nags,
She don't like it when I come home half in a bag,
I don't know, seems alright by me.
Drunk again, that what she'll say, but I really don't care much anyway,
Give me a drink, make it something strong.
Three A.M. and it's getting late, my eyes are all red and I can't walk straight.
But I'll be alright if I could just get home.
Come on , baby, don'tcha be that way,
You said the same thing to me yesterday,
Now I know why I can't go home.
You locked the door and you shut the light,
And when I get inside, it's gonna be a fight,
This time, in the morning, I'll be gone.
Drunk again, that what she'll say, but I really don't care much anyway,
Give me a drink, make it something strong.
Three A.M. and it's getting late, my eyes are all red and I can't walk straight.
But I'll be alright if I could just get home.
What's up with this? All the clothes are gone,
Well she packed her bags and she went on home,
I really should just sit down here and think,
But I'll drop a dime and I'll call her up,
Tell I'm sorry and all that stuff,
What I really need right now is one more drink.
Drunk again, that what she'll say, but I really don't care much anyway,
Give me a drink, make it something strong.
Three A.M. and it's getting late, my eyes are all red and I can't walk straight.
But I'll be alright if I could just get home.
