TIME TO PARTY

Story Behind The Song

As a musician, I've still had to work more than my share of "day gigs", especially when I got "domesticated". Being part of the Monday-through-Friday work force made me appreciate how good it felt when the weekend rolled around--hence this song!

This is the 2006 version of a song actually written over 20 years earlier. It is a little bit Delbert McClinton, a little bit Dr. John...relating to the working people who live for the end of their work week.

TIME TO PARTY

You know it's time to party.
I said it's time for fun.
You know it's for everybody, so come on everyone.
You know it's time for good times,
And everybody's hot,
I said it's time to party, so let's all give it everything we got.

Now all day at the job we been workin' hard,
And each of us needs some kind of release.
When we're finally out we all can drop our guards,
And have the kind of time we wish would never cease.
I said it's time,
You know it's time,
Well, ain't no crime to have a good time,
Come on, come on, come on!

Time to party.
You know it's time for fun.
I said it's for everybody, so come on everyone.
You know it's time for good times,
And everybody's hot,
I said it's time to party, so let's all give it everything we got.

No one wants to be a workin' stiff all the time,
'Cause work without play makes a dull boy.
Don't let anybody tell you fun is a sin,
'Cause they don?t know the meaning of joy.
I said it's time,
You know it's time,
Well, ain't no crime to have a good time,
Come on, come on, come on!

You know it's time to party.
I said it's time for fun.
You know it's for everybody, so come on everyone.
I said it's time for good times,
And everybody's hot,
You know it's time to party, so let's all give it everything we got.

Great Lead Voice real good writing Fun Tune ...

love it ... good voice .. was fun

Fun track. It's got a good groove to it! I like the male vocals, just the right amount of rasp. Harmonies are right there. Musicianship is excellent! I can see this in a movie or tv show easily.

Great vocal delivery. Rocking good fun. Thumbs up.

Great new Orleans style R&B style blues, vocals like Dr John, gritty and real. Arrangement is tight and well structured, love the background vocals and the organ sound.

Great song ! Nice arrangement & production. Dr John vibe, who I love. Well done!

opening sounds a little like joe cocker. cool song, love it...would sound great in a club.
