Story Behind The Song
"I had a Dream!" to quote a famous reverend...and in it was the phrase "the moment I look away, you know who you are" ...this song resulted...
Song Description
this addresses the world of religion as I see it...to wit, deceitful, corrupt, vengeful, bellicose, hypocritical, counter-productive to the beneficial aims of society, anachronistic, self-serving/
non-altruistic. Religion promotes intolerance and divisiveness while claiming to serve unity and peace. It is an institution that should be on the wane... enlightenment will only be attained thru freedom of thought and speech...religion denies both...need i continue?...just give me half a chance!

Lyrics
Religion
your identity is sacred, only you know who you are
you hide behind a veil of phoney names
your weapons are your magic and the subtlety of stealth
you're responsible for a world of lethal games
the clothes you wear protect you, so no-one has to see
the darkness that is seething underneath
you wear a mask of mystery, so no-one has to know
whose lips utter the babble that you breathe
I have seen you at the ball game, and I have met you on the streets,
in the marketplace, in librairies and schools
you have tempted me with edens that are far beyond your reach
you have threatened me with hells of fiery pools
but there's nothing you have told me that strikes me as sincere
your aims are all self-serving and designed
to prey upon the lonely; take advantage of the weak
and those who are corruptibly inclined
Chorus
but i won't be a slave to your deception
nor will i subscribe to your cause
cuz like light i can see through all your windows
and like wind find the cracks in your doors
you cannot see the future and you dare not look behind
cuz the mirror that you hide from holds the proof
your vanity prevents you from acknowledging your past
choosing to ignore the ugly truth
your adversaries silenced; any challengers removed
if they fail to vow collusion in your crimes
so now poisoned and persuaded, beaten and degraded
weary soldiers form your ranks and battle lines
a symphony of chaos your victims have endured
from the kaaba to the ancient gates of rome
with promises of solace and with oaths you cannot keep
you lure them to your imaginary throne
your followers are legion, from the mountains to the sea
they come from every corner of the earth
their fidelity is absolute; and their resolution firm
though blindness is their unrelenting curse
