Story Behind The Song
This is my favorite song on the record. It is very different from my original concept of the song because of Gerry Hansen and Davis Causey's influences in chord progression and feel. Davis and I sat down and recorded the guitar and dobro parts in one take. Then Gerry went in, detuned his drums, stacked some cymbals and tambourines and proceeded in playing one of the coolest drum patterns I've ever heard. We were trying to create the feel of three old blues musicians sitting on the front porch jamming on a song they had all heard different versions of. Edgy, with a lot of feeling and soul.

Lyrics
Evil Hearted Woman (3:06)
Written by Spencer Durham
Well that evil hearted woman
Done crept her way up inside of my mind
Said that evil hearted woman
Done crept her way up inside of my mind
I can tell by the way she walks
That she aint the loving kind
Well I told that woman
Girl you gotta set me free
Yes I told that woman
Girl you gotta set me free
But that evil hearted woman
Don't want my baby to be with me
Well I got me a pretty baby
She's the best woman I ever seen
Said I got me a pretty baby
She's the best damn woman I ever seen
But she said she gonna leave me
Thinks I been
With every girl in town
Well my baby left me
Left me nothing but a frown
Said my baby left me
Left me nothing but a frown
Here comes that evil hearted woman
She don't want nothing but to mess around
Here comes that evil hearted woman
She don't want nothing but to mess around
Here comes that evil hearted woman
Here she comes
