I wrote it a while back when my kids were younger after a Memorial Day parade.

It's a red white and blue day in the old home town
we're all going down to the big parade
my little boy's standing next to me 'says daddy who's that man over there
the one waving the little flag with wheels on his chair I said son

he put his life on the line for you and me

We raise up the flag and salute twenty one guns
and we all gather around the square
there's ole mayor Thompson speaking on the podium
in 68 his brother went MIA and all these years he helped raise his son

As the crowd begins to leave I can see my little boy
saying thanks to the man in the wheel chair, it filled my heart with joy the young man smiles as a tear on his face rolls away
kisses my boy on his forehead and says "god bless the USA
