Story Behind The Song
After traveling in the American West and returning to NYC I was thinking many of those tin pan alley writers wrote some great tunes dreaming of the wide open spaces while sitting in a small office . This is my take on a good ole cowboy song.
I tried to bring out the Hollywood Cowboy as well as the real cowboy.
Song Description
It's nice to be able to live a fantasy from time to time-but it never lasts ,

Lyrics
The Cowboy In Me
© Bob Stump 2018
I'm gonna take the back road out of town
and ride my painted pony till the sun goes down
watch the shooting stars fall from the sky
and dream of all the girls I left behind
chorus
Just like old John Wayne
ridin high in the saddle driftin on the plain
sometimes a man has got to get free
like the cowboy inside of me
waitin for the round up
hear the six guns pop
get them doggies home fore the sun drops
might play a little poker with some good ole boys
drink a little whiskey make a little noise
Just like the outlaw Jessie James
hidin out in the desert
robin banks and trains
sometimes a man has got to get free
like the cowboy inside of me
The red rock canyon's callin me
I'm gonna pan for gold and stock up on some beans
and call on miss Lilly when I'm back in town
and keep her company when the sun goes down
chorus
These city streets have got me down
Its dog eat dog all over this town
You give your heart and soul but its never enough
the trail is wating it's time to ride the bluff
