Another vanishing truck stop Americana song . Whenever I travel I always seem to go back in time .
I've had this guitar instrumental around a while , before the story.

Lyrics
The Old Fiddlers Inn © Bob Stump 2019
Last gas town I'm back east bound
time to wind this semi down
neons flashing eat so I go in
A coffee and a simple glance I
look again she smiles and says
seems like tonight u could use a friend
well she say's her shift is done at ten
theres a band down The Old Fiddlers Inn
don't know if country music is your thing
she takes my hand and we go in
the band is hot and the lights are dim
and their playing something from another time
maybe at the county fair
I know I've heard that tune somewhere
maybe riding through those old Kentucky hills
may have picked it up from some old friend
or somewhere on a summer wind
but I'v e never heard as sweet a sound since then
well I've never been much of a dancing man
but my lonely heart was in her hands
we moved across the floor like we were dancing with the stars
I twirled her in my arms once more but lost her on the crowded floor
last I recall it was last call at the bar
I take that route from time to time when I come through these parts
The Old Fiddlers Inn is a long time gone it's now a mini mart
sometimes late at night when the rhythm of the road is right
I can hear that melody as I roll through that town
