This is Alexander The Cat.
Sometimes I don't know where he's at.
Sometimes he's here, sometimes he's there
Sometimes I can't find him anywhere.
Old Alex goes a prowlin' around the house.
I don't know if he's looking for a bug or a mouse.
He gets into the washer or he gets into the sink.
He goes under the faucet and he takes a drink .
He watches at the door when the doorbell rings.
You'd think he was a watchdog, but it's a kitty-cat thing.
He sucks upon my elbow and my chin, and paws my hair.
He waits for me to go to bed and meets me there.
He wakes me up sharply at 5 am.
He wants to make sure I still love him then.

Sometimes I don't know where he's at.
Sometimes he's here, sometimes he's there
Sometimes I can't find him anywhere.
He opens up a drawer and pulls out all the things.
He leaps into the closet as if he had wings.
He'll go onto the upper shelf and sleep all day,
Then he'll pester all the other cats and wants to play.
He dashes and clashes and skids around the floor.
He eats up all his food and then he wants some more.
He'll pounce upon a piece of stuff he thinks is a bug.
Only to discover that it is just a piece of fuzz.
We play around the corner when I think he can't see.
Then he jumps and leaps and dances, and tries to scare me.
He climbs upon the ladder when I want to paint.
He sits on top and acts as if he is a saint.
He jumps around upon it as if he won't fall
He's the most dashing and daring cat of all.
