Story Behind The Song
This is about the falls road in the 80s. It was a very violent time. When the black flags were put up on the lamppost trouble was ahead and blood would be spilt. The city felt dangerous. As I child growing up on one side I had a feeling that the red blood on one side of the community was the same blood on the other side.
Song Description
Starts gently - Like a film panning over old photographs. Something is not quite right and the lyrics hint at this. The second part is reflection on the memory and disbelief of the memory. The middle of the song is a list of 3 word statements people would say in the city. They reflect normality and violence and they are all mixed up together. Just like life.

Lyrics
Black white photograph
black white soulder
black flag blowing
black white memory
normality plus time equals not normal
reality this is not mine this is not normal
well it all looked perfectly normal at the time
and heartbreak was heartbreak on each side
call it out
own it up
wear me down
be right round
live it up
break your heart
get outa town
dust yourself down
bomb damage sale
let it go
off his head
walk of shame
hold me back
take me down
get away car
dream on
break it off
blast a bomb
point a gun
in it to win
turn a blind eye
bite the dust
burning bus
game is up
shoot them down
turn them in
hes so thin
bring in the bins
do his knees
lets go play
riots are on
its a grey day
well it all looked perfectly normal
at the time
and heartbreak was heartbreak on each side
black flag blowing
red blood flowing
