Michael Dewayne
a.k.a. Spicey Mike
Born in Fort Worth, Texas but moved to Long Beach California with his grandparents when he was 2 years old where he began singing at the age of 4. His mother, two older brothers, and sister joined him in California when he was 6. Michael comes from a musical background, where ninety percent of his relatives have the talent and ability to make it in the musical industry. As for Michael, he has taken his passion and drive and made his dream a reality. At the age of 6, Michael along with his brother Vincent Durrell, (also an aspiring singer/artist/songwriter) led their local church choir in almost every song selection. He is a man looking to make an impact on the music industry the way it has made an impact on him. Aside from Michael's passion for music, he also has a mutual love and talent in sports. Michael played high school football for Long Beach Poly High School, which has produced more professional athletes than any other high school in the nation. After attending the University of Hawaii on an athletic scholarship, he spent several years trying to land a job with a team in the NFL (National Football League). Ultimately he did play professional football in the Canadian Football League for a short period. Michael decided to pursue his musical career when he was unable to maintain his football career professionally. Michael has been around success all his life. He could be found spending time with such notables as Snoop Dogg, Warren G, Nate Dogg and the late 2Pac Shakur. All of whom, except 2Pac, attended high school together. Michael has always felt success around him and now it's his turn to step into the music industry and share his vision. Michael and his brother formed an A cappella trio called Jondo. The trio performed for some of the most famous people in the world such as Mr. Tae Bo, Billy Blanks, Actress Angela Bassett, A & R mogul, Michael Conception and Shaq. They also appeared on several television shows such as Jack & Jill on CBS in 1999, the Keenan Ivory Wayans show and the Wayne Brady show to name a few. His new journey in the music industry is exciting and fresh. He plans to do what he calls "make good music, no matter what the genre". He is extremely versatile and has the ability to sing various styles which will make his music a refreshing sensation to listen to. With the raw talent to sing and the understanding to write great music, he will survive this MTV and BET generation. Michael has said, "Music is one of the most important things in the world and I would do anything to be a part of that. Just knowing that you have touched someone and made a difference in their lives because of your music is the greatest reward you can receive. I touch you, and you touch me, I am rewarded two fold. Thank you for that"
