I play acoustic guitar, sing and write. I have been playing guitar and singing since I was 15 years old, first learning to play guitar from Peter Paul and Mary songbooks. I love all kinds of music but my style seems to be country with a hint of bluegrass. I am a self taught guitarist and vocalist. I love harmonies and believe my songs would be best suited for a country/bluegrass recording artist. I will also be submitting songs for my son Lance Alverson, was passed in an auto accident in 2006 at age 23. Lance recorded/played/composed 45, Hard Rock songs out of our home. I found his songs after his passing - a true gift to our family.
Lance Alverson - 1982 - 2006
Since I am submitting songs by my son Lance (1982 - 2006), prior to submitting mine, I would like to tell you about him in a few words. Lance was an extremely gifted musician, composer and recording engineer, as well as a quiet, kind and funny young man. He started playing guitar when he was about 15. He loved Metallica, hard rock and some heavy metal. He belonged to a band named, 'Trench' when he was around 17 and got some experience that way. Lance's songs were a great surprise to our family, after his passing, as none of us were aware of them though we knew he spent hours in his room playing music & recording via Nuendo. After Lance's passing, of greatest comfort to me was his song, 'Acouda'. For those interested, Lance's memorial website is http://virtualmemorials.com/main.php?action=view&mem_id=6801&page_no=1. May my son live on through his beautiful music and inspire others to create!
Susie Alverson
I am a singer/song writer/guitarist. I started singing and playing guitar at age 15, learning music mainly from Peter Paul and Mary guitar songbooks. I minored in music at David Lipscomb Univ in Nashville, TN, in the 1970's & did a few performances around Nashville during that time. I began writing songs when we moved to Lafayette, LA from 1988 - 1990. The Cajun people inspired the songwriter in me. I went on to write about passionate events or feelings in my life. I wrote a song, at the accident site, for my son Lance (passed at age 23 in 2006 in an auto accident), whose songs I will be posting before my own. Lance produced, on his own, about 45 songs that we discovered after his passing in 2006. He was an accomplished guitarist and brilliant musician/recording engineer. The songs you hear, of Lance's, were all played, composed and recorded by him alone. Though our taste in music was different, Lance and I shared a passion for music on many levels, as well as composing our own music. Lance surpassed his mama in talent, by far. I will post my songs once I get them transferred from tape to my hard drive as MP3's.
