The Sandman's Orchestra is a duo made up of Pierre Laplace, a singer/songwriter from Lille, France, and his 16-year-old niece, Léonie Gabriel. In summer 2011 the duo self-released a 1st album, "Silver Linings", 11 tracks of haunting folk music with touches of jazz and electronica.

Lille, France, June 27, 2011 - after one year working together, The Sandman's Orchestra, duo comprising PIERRE LAPLACE and his 16-year-old niece LEONIE GABRIEL, have released their debut CD, "SILVER LININGS", an album of folk songwriting with touches of jazz noir and electronica.

Acoustic instrumentation and finger-picked guitar or banjo blend seamlessly with minimal jazz and electronica/soundscapes to accompany vocal duets and solos by Léonie Gabriel, creating a timelessness that will appeal to fans of Nick Drake, Beth Gibbons, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Cat Power or Kate Bush.

Léonie Gabriel has a voice beyond her years considered by many listeners as a revelation. "Silver Linings" was recorded and produced by Pierre Laplace, a musician and songwriter with a rich musical background - for 10 years he was part of cult French band Vera Clouzot, who released 4 albums and played support slots for Jeff Buckley, Smog and Joseph Arthur.

Each song is lovingly arranged using acoustic and electric guitars, banjo, ukulele, upright piano, wurlitzer, drums, trumpet and electronic sounds. The album was recorded at home then mastered at Studio KA in Lille, France, using classic analog equipment to create a warm, organic sound that is a welcome contrast to so much over-processed and compressed modern music.
