Threefold Biography
Threefold is a Christian rock band based out of Everett, Washington, a suburban town located 25 minutes north of Seattle. Ben Ekstedt and Matt Nystrom are the band’s two permanent, full-time members. Ben tackles the challenge of singing lead vocals while drumming simultaneously. Matt provides guitar work and backing vocals along with a healthy dose of comic relief.
In February of 2004, Threefold traveled to Nashville, Tennessee to record their second full-length album, Through the Torn Curtain. To produce the project, Threefold turned to Grammy Award® winning producer/engineer Mitch Dane (Dane received a Grammy Award® for his work on Jars of Clay’s 2002 release, The Eleventh Hour). Guest appearances on the record include Matt Slocum, formerly of Sixpence None the Richer, and Jars of Clay members Stephen Mason and Aaron Sands.
When asked about the title of the new record, Matt Nystrom explains, “Through the Torn Curtain is a reference to the temple curtain that was split after Christ’s death; it’s a celebration of the free and unrestricted access we now have with the Lord because of His amazing sacrifice. This album explores the process of stepping through the curtain as a broken soul with nothing more than His mercy and grace to support you.”
Currently, Threefold is touring the nation in support of their latest record. To date, they have performed in nearly a dozen states and have sold more than 1,500 records in the past 12 months alone.
