Love the song Where Was God Perfect!!
Dear Shelly, Very kind of you to say so. yours, Craig
Well, you were right. I got a song selected by a publisher/licenser. The first song I had picked up was by a license company. Keep up the good work!
Congrats! You write great songs so I'm not surprised... Interestingly, I among others, I had the instrumental version of one of my songs, I'll Sing Anyway, selected for a licensing opportunity just recently... car commercial in England... gotta love Broadjam... thanks for the message CW
Hey Steven, I did notice you got that placement, congrats! I don't know where this all goes? I am about 4 months into Broadjam and not doing any other platform. CWA
Yeah I've had 5 or 6 songs selected, but now it's just a waiting game as you know... We just keep plugging away I guess... I think Broadjam is as good a platform as any...
Yeah, I've been wondering if this is the right platform it is the only one I'm on. I'm just not sure what these Licensing people really do and whether they just stick our songs in a catalog and don't really pitch them? Well this is the music biz for songwriters...
You may be right... I've known one of these guys who has been pitching for decades... I'm gonna get the low down from him and I'll let you know...
Great, thanks!
Hey Steven, I just got some feedback on a couple of songs I pitched and noticed you had one song on one o them that was up for final consideration; mine did not make that cut, and you know the final outcme of yours too by now. Just some notes re understandin this current system. I go back to Nashville back in the day. I use to cut demos and walk up and down publishers row and knock on doors. It was very direct and simple in those days. Then I went on to full time long form witing for publications and book publishers. Now, I've come fulll circle to songs but everything has changed. It looks like there are more opportunities but that seems to be an illusion. I see this new process as having more intermediate filters and they don't tell you what they are actually doing. There are no updates or accounting of what they've done after you get the contract. I am sure you've also run into all of this....just comparing notes.
You're absolutely right! Thats why I want to talk to the guy I know and my friend and mentor who has been in the industry for 30+ years who introduced me to him... I should get some good info and I'll share it with you... thanks much for your thoughts too
Okay, we're on the same page.
I've been on here long enough to what this is all about and who is on Broadjam and who isn't. Good for songwriters to test their material out on other songwriters. But that only goes so far. You gotta get to the public venues, the real listeners and buyers. I am not at all thrilled with the licensing companies, they're all fringe players. I've had one bad experience with them. I am pretty much done posting any more songs. Good Luck!
Hey CW Anderson!...I've listened to a few of your tunes and you really have it together. Really good stuff! Beyond Broadjam!. There appears to be a limit here!. I've been on since 2001. Had many tunes in top 10 categories- they come & go on a daily basis! The contests I believe- just a way to make $$! There are many better sites out there that give a really good listen and can assist. to propel your music forward! The music industry in my belief...has been over inundated with individuals that have absolutely no inherent musical talent at all! ! In today's world you can create music all digitally including lead vocals/ orchestral parts etc. It's simply unbelievable!! If you have a keen ear it is easy to hear this ! It's ruined the music production world. Anyone with a good computer skill and know-how can create a lot of decent music.!..and to me this has really impinged heavily on skilled...trained musicians...the real deal! I find an awful lot of this on this site- disheartening to say the least! It's an ok platform to get your music heard....but honestly...give some time and you will see what I'm writing about! I wish you continued musical success-because from what I hear-You deserve it!!! TK-(Tony Keys)-BroGreede
Hey Tony, Very timely. I was just mentioning to a publisher on this site that strongly endorses my work that I'm not sure if Broadjam is a good fit for me. I am a published author, journalist so my focus is on lyrics with meaningful storylines. But I've been playing guitar and around music for a long time. I am not thrilled with the new middlemen, the music licensing guys, and I am not a singer or band member guy so my goal is a publishing deal. I am prolific and can write anything on spec in any genre. I will collab on quality projects. Thanks, CW
Okay. Let's get to the other sites issue. What is your pick for a more appropriate platform? My goal is to connect direct to producers and publishers. It seems broadjam is more about songwriters getting reviews from peers. I've been on for just 3 months or so. Thanks.
