Story Behind The Song
I'm in the LGBT community -- I want to write songs that stand for my brothers and sisters. I want to encourage them. I want them to have their music, too!
Song Description
This is a song about a young gay man confronting his past. He watches his house burn METAPHORICALLY because he has to let go of the past to move on. Someone is speaking to him asking him questions like, how many lessons does the heart need to learn. There are angels in his house and zombies -- A to Z -- mean he's loved or been with. And right now he's saying goodbye to all of that and letting the past burn.
Key of G#, written on guitar in four four, it hearkens back to a sound and a time in the late 60s when rock and folk and country and pop all got mixed into one on the AM radio!

Lyrics
Strung out angels in the attic with their dubstepping machine
Ice on your voice, lichen on your brain
That made you mean so
How many lessons does the heart need to learn
And yet you just stand there with flames in your eyes
And watch your house burn
The band on the driveway plays kick drums and crack horns
The men that you love ain't no god's concern
So sit back and breathe and watch your house burn
Zombies rocking in the basement, I know you forgive each one
The cold north wind blows in each day like a rerun
A bowl of teeth for fun
All the survival books you'll never return
Now you just stand there with flames in your eyes
And watch your house burn
The band on the driveway plays kick drums and crack horns
The men you that you love ain't no god's concern
So sit back and breath and watch your house burn
