I listened to A Cold One and gave it a 5 star rating. I also write country songs. You might want to give a listen to Mill Creek Memories on my list. Maybe we could collaborate. -CW Anderson

Thank you Kate for the sweet review of Spin. Means so much.

Hi Shelly,
Thanks so much for taking the time to listen to and review my song "Keep On Walkin". I haven't had anyone compare that song to Madonna, but that's the great thing about music... it's a very personal thing. I'm so glad that you liked it!

While I'm here I'll check out some of your music.

Thanks again... be safe and be well!

Frank

Hi Shelly,
Having been on the receiving end of a Bob Juch diatribe disguised as a review, I couldn't help but notice that you were clearly upset by his review of Country In Chicago. So I had a listen to your song and checked out his supposedly "positive" comment in the review section. For him to be so arrogant as to say there was nothing about your song that he liked was one of the most arrogant comments I've seen in my time on Broadjam.
Mr Juch was similarly dismissive of my song and, whilst I've been in this game long enough that I really don't care, more sensitive songwriters and people just starting out could feel very differently. I have tried to explain to him that the whole point of peer reviews is to encourage fellow Bjammers through constructive, feedback, even if there is a need to be critical. I'm not sure he's heard the phrase "if you've nothing nice to say, say nothing"?! He seems to think we are after empty platitudes but I, for one, rely on genuine feedback so that I actually gain from the review process. We all get so close to our songs we actually stop hearing them after a while, so other people's views can be incredibly useful. By the same token, I won't tell someone their song is great if I don't think it is, but I will try to be kind and will try to be constructive. But, in this case, you have a guy who seems to think he's head and shoulders above the rest of us and uses reviews to make judgements, rather than to provide thoughtful advice, guidance and encouragement. Hopefully, he'll learn from the responses he's just received from me and several of my friends, but I'm not convinced he will.

Please don't be put off by this incredibly negative and pompous attitude, carry on writing good songs with original ideas and, most importantly, enjoy producing music. Reviews are there to help but you are the one in charge and can choose to ignore them if you so wish.

Good luck with your projects,
Bob

Thank you for your support.
I probably should not have responded to him like I did.
Now I know it is just not me...lol
I try to find the good in everyone's songs. We all know the hard work and emotions that go into them.
Thanks for looking out for me.
Also, I am all for constructive criticism too, makes us a better writer.
Sometimes hearing a song I may not be a fan of, ends up being a huge hit. Go figure 🤣

Thanks Shelly. Yes it was a thrill to be involved in such a prestigious project and to get quality recognition. The Song was to be sung in all the commonwealth countries as they lit beacons. What a feather in the cap for the chosen lyricist.
Good luck
Bob

Well, let's see..."Country in Chicago." I was curious to see the review...
"I can't say I liked any part of it." That's a POSITIVE??? Did that reviewer really listen?
I listened to your song and it has an endearing conversational quality to it. It's like you're sitting next to me, telling your story. Many times, that's what songwriting is all about and you did it very well. I don't think I'd be concerned which genre it falls into, that's usually a marketing convenience, and most songs can be recorded to fit a variety of genres. The core music and lyrics are the important things that make a song and you've done a nice job, as you always do.

Hi, Shelly. I was curious to see why "Country in Chicago" got the kind of review it did. I think the reviewer did not really listen. It is engaging with its charming conversational quality that you put into it. I never have an issue with which genre it falls into as I listen for the core words and music. Many songs can be made to fit several genres. The genre label is a marketing convenience. You did very well as you told a story as if you were sitting next to me from start to finish with a fresh viewpoint. Very nice job!

Thank you so much for your comments on Country In Chicago.
I worked hard on the storyline and music. Not to mention all the money to make it all come together.
Recorded it in Nashville.
The song is different and I like different. It does cross genre lines. Again, thank you for the support. Appreciate.

You're much welcome. These comment boards confound me. When I hit "Submit Reply" it doesn't take, or the reply lands somewhere else a couple hours later...sometimes never. I really wonder what's wrong with the code. I think lyrics are the most difficult part. The melody is easier except I like coming up with something very catchy. Those are the illusive things that have to find me rather than my looking for it. Odd how that works!

Hi, Shelly. "Spin" is a delightful folk tune that's meanders through life and is philosophical without sounding philosophical, much like Joni Mitchell's "Circle Game." There's a gentle innocence to it, too. It's a sweetness that got lost along the way in recent decades and I miss those kinds of songs. I saw Scott's review and decided to drop by.

I would never give a D on purpose. Those blue stars are so sensitive. Noticed they would go up and down with barely touching that area.
So sorry

Thank you Kate for the nice review of my song The Ornament. You made my day.
Yes..when I was writing it, I kept thinking about it being a poem st to mudic. I could not incorporate a chorus in it. Just didn't fit. I felt it just needed to be like it is. A story.
The girl singing is me. People always comment about how young my voice sounds. Just the way it is.
Thank you again for listening and reviewing.

Have a Cold One on Me Baby, You hit honky tonk right on with this one Shelly. You are a seasoned artist and song writer your lyrics are meaningful and relatable. To me the lyrics have to mean something. I like the song (A Man and his Guitar also) all of your songs tell a relatable story. Thank you for the stars on (No One Will Ever Know) Your heart and mind is where I'm at also. Keep on keeping on Girl!
