    DON'T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT ONE

Just north of NYC, and out of the woods of northwestern Connecticut comes a new musical release from composer-musician, multimedia man dB+1 (douglas Branson plus one or more of his friends).

The titles of the songs tell the story and the tunes often portray another as dB organizes a cluster of his own writing and singing voices throughout. It opens with YOU ARE THE GIRL featuring a country piano track and a middle-of-the-road feel to this simple tune featuring the varying sounds of dB?s vocals with an interesting distant echo effect on backing vocal tracks hinting at trouble ahead. YOUR BOYFRIEND IS A DICK, So much for FM air play. dB employs the rasp in his voice for this gem, the second on the disk, and gets right to the point. John Couch intersperses a flowing lead guitar throughout and Bobbi ?FunkeeBoy? Tammaro adds some sugar with the keys. I?m sure dB has met a few dick boyfriends in his time and may regret not being more forthcoming to the girlfriends. ?He?s a dick ... at least he thinks with it? and ?I told you his name is Richard?-spoken by one of the girls-are two classic lines adding to the fun and I?d be willing to bet the guy?s name was not Richard at all, although I?m quite sure he was a dick, and probably still is. No truth to the rumor that dB wrote this song to his girlfriend in a fit of self-loathing. dB plays all the tracks on UNDER THE STARS, mixing simple keyboard lines with soft crunching rhythm guitars in a straight-ahead blues trek. As odd as it sounds the first time it grows with each listen. Just one of those things. EXCELLENT DAY brings us another voice from the same singer, giving us a quick look at another one of his personalities in a spirit of new beginning. The beauty of the song is the singer?s sincere lack of insincerity. Haunting synth track lays a nice background to SILENT STREETS, perhaps an ode to English/Punk/Grunge influences with dB doing his best Lou Reed. Heartfelt keyboard and guitar chords drive the tune with the lead vocalist?s alter-ego on backing vocals. Interesting effect of the two vocals fighting off each other throughout and it?s all Mr. dB himself. Somebody give Ziggy Stardust a copy of this. I"M NOT LAUGHIN ABOUT IT. This one was left off a ?Crazy World of Arthur Brown? album in the sixties - well maybe - and brought back to life by dB with Tobias Feeley providing the instrumentation and a fine guitar solo at the end. It?ll be OK, dB, really. I know it?s not funny but I don?t know what it is, either. dB characteristically utilizes a composite of styles on PEOPLE, PLACES,AND THINGS. The track features hints of SKA - ala Madness - with instrumental jams that could fit on a Matchbox Foo Peppers album, not that there?s anything wrong with that. Great break into a guitar jam midway through to send the tune on its way to a furious finish before stepping back into a stylish piano (McKean Sinkler) interlude to calm things down. Great drum track (Ed McGrogan) too and a nice touch with the guitar (Herc Fede) fade leading the way out the door. Best moments on the disk, THE RANT (F-Word Version) A possible subconscious ode to Ian Hunter without the young dudes, Mr. dB may still be pissed of at the dick boyfriend here. He is from Philly after all, and those guys carry a grudge and step up for their women. Additional cameo appearances by more of dB?s personalities, namely a buzzing background vocal ?she said, she said? bouncing off the power chords. I only wish THIS BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY was longer. I?m taking the title at face value but who knows. No vocals but another fine piano performance by Sinkler and lead guitar by Fede carry this song to a place dB and Fede mapped out. Additional tracks include SUICIDE BOMBER and an ODE 2 KURT COBAIN, as well as TERRIBLE VIDEOS ON MTV, which takes us to a place where none of us wants to go. I think that is the point but I believe dB really wants to hit the MTV scene. Be careful dB, EVERYONE?S boyfriend is a dick in those circles. - Bob Deakin

    dB+1 SONGS - REVIEWS

YOUR BOYFRIEND IS A DICK (Pop Version):
    - Lyrics are definitely right on the edge, love your vox, and that guitar riff is amazing! (Female 35, NYC)

    - Wow...very funny and sarcastic and completely original. College radio HIT! - studio musician /songwriter (Male 52 California)

    - I had my two teenage sons (15 amd 13) listen to this song and they both wanted a copy of it immediatly. This song probably wouldn't get air but I guarantee you it will be a cult classic. I could be wrong it could get air play and blow up huge. This song is right up there with my all time favorites. The prison song by the offspring, etc...
(Male 48 Washington Publisher, A&R Professional, Music Reviewer, Song Writer )

    THE RANT (F-Word version)
-Awesome track primed for broadway. Very well performed, whoever does the vocals. This is honestly the most fun to listen to song I have ever heard. The lyrics are hilarious and instrumentation flawless. Could be a modern rock broadway number, the way it sucks one into an imaginary type of story line.

    - really liked it - the, anger, the profanities - beautiful, man, just beautiful (Male 28 UK Songwriter)
    - cool lyrics (Male 35 Pennsylvania performer)

    HELP YOU FINISH DANCE
    - Its a good song. I like the little vocal samples. (Male 24 Wisconsin Live Performer)

    SILENT STREETS
    - Very original sound, very unique and good arrangement
    (Male 37 Pennsylvania Studio Musician)

    - Vocals remind me a little of David Bowie, Very unique, I would love to hear more. Love the lyrics. I like the emptiness of the arrangement! Yea, I def. want to hear more!!

    TERRIBLE VIDEOS ON MTV
    - I like the humour and the badness of the vocals.. very punky feel, very catchy. (Male 39 Spain, Live performer)

    DOING IT (Demo)
-Good chorus, "Doin' It" hook is pretty catchy. Interesting song, very cool, but I think it could go under Punk more than Modern. Still, it might be too bluesy for Punk. I like that it's unique, and the song does rock. The lyrics are straight to the point. I like the singer's voice and I enjoyed the guitar-playing, too. (Female 28 NYC, Musician)

I"M NOT LAUGHING ABOUT IT (LIVE Rehearsal)
-This is so real, that I just smiled. Not a tribute or parody, but REAL '60's-type Garage! Tasty. Lyrics---who needs them when the VOLUME took the song. Vocals---perfectly 'sunk' into the VOLUME! Recording---sounds LIVE from the basement or garage. All of the ABOVE would destroy chances for a 'record deal'--BUT, it's this same 'realness' that'll give you staying power. Why? Because you can replicate this LIVE---gaining a wider audience than records could ever. This is HOT!
    (Male 43 Washington DC, Musician)

ODE 2 KURT COBAIN - Reviews

    - I really appreciate the words spoken here. The ordinary person cannot understand the mixed blessing and angst of being an emotionally charged highly creative person. The fact that this recitation is a prayer inspires also, because our country seems to be trying to take God out of everything. The voice is very soothing and the ode questions the relationship between God and suicide.
I would like to see the piece expanded. (Female 60 North Carolina, Publisher, Music Reviewer, Music / Film, Song Writer

    - Do you listen to this genre on a regular basis? Yes
What Genre is most appropriate for this song? Spoken Work
    Song Analysis
    Originality of Song 5/5
Does this song invoke an emotion? 5/5

    SUICIDE BOMBER - Reviews

    - Kind of reminds me of some of the earlier punk bands such as The Sex Pistols with some California punk mixed in. Guitar tone sounds great for this particular sound. The bass and drums work well together. Nice use of sound effects like "sirens" things like that. The song has a nice rant to it and probably would sound good in a live venue. (Male 24 Wisconsin, studio musician)

    - LOVE the "suicide bomber" chorus with the octave low voice, that ROCKS. Great spontaneous energy. Classic punk influenced song. Nice and raw. I LOVED it.....now make me HATE it !! ;) I would normally say that the guitar sound sucks, but since it's punkish in approach, I guess that's ok. I'd also normally say that the lyrics are total crap, but given the genre, that's a good thing too. I'd even say that the vocalist can't sing, except............that's right......IT FITS THE STYLE!! Good job guys!!!! Keep having fun!! (Male 39 New Mexico. Musician)

    - A really, really nice dirty sound. I was reminded of Iggy & The Stooges, or New York Dolls. This tune reeks sleaze from every pore and if you told me it had been recorded in New York in the mid 70s I would believe you straight away. The chaotic bits where it sounds like it might all fall apart in a minute just add to the atmosphere and the whole thing is nicely under-produced. A great vibe. Think I'll add this to my playlist. (Male Musician United Kingdom ,Alternative Rock)

    EXCELLENT DAY - Reviews

    - Roots Rockout! Just pure rock'n'roll with no frills. Good feel. Thought the last half of song was great, much better than the first half of the song. Disclaimer: I feel all the songs on BroadJam are exactly in the stage of development that is right for the moment, and my Constructive Criticism is only given because it is solicited. I have found the Analyses and Cons I receive on my songs to be very helpful and I hope my review will help you in some way. I generally find it useless to give any negative feedback, as I feel that by the time someone has gone through the process of creating a recording, they are well aware of its properties and qualities. (Record Producer, Engineer, Music / Film, Song Writer , Male 56 Georgia USA)

    THIS BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY - Reviews

    - I could see this as an opening credit song for a TV show...very nice
The drums could come out a little more, and the recording could be a little louder. ( Male 52, Washington,Studio Musician/Song Writer)

    - great instrumentation, nice full sound keep up the good work, you know what the song needs so I wont say it (Male 40, New Jersey, Live Perforrmer)

    Other Comments
    - Exuberant Performance, The guitar hook in the 'chorus' is quite catchy, Cute Song,

Hi Douglas....Just stopping by to give ya a big "THANK YOU" for your kind review of BroGreede's "Annabelle". This song has a special place in my heart because it's one of the last tunes my brother sang before he passed suddenly back in 2011. BroGreede has a rather long and depressing history. It basically started out in 2001...just me(all instruments-keys-head songwriter) and my brother( lead vocalist /drummer). We were joined by my brother's good close friend/roomie 1/2 way through our 3rd. album who was a schooled multi-instrumentalist(guitar...bass ...keyboards..etc.). He also passed away suddenly ~ 6 years after brother. So...henceforth...now it's only me. My brother and I joined Bjam way back in 2001. When my brother died BG was essentially dead as well. The last band member and me just kept getting together-playing together and keeping memories alive. There is more to the story ...but I don't want to bother you with all that! I'm on Bjam just carrying the torch, keeping memories alive-and making some nice friends along the way! Please accept a friendship-that would be appreciated! Thanx in advance Douglas. Now I'm going to sit back and give some of your tunes a good listen!!!!
    Thank you for listening!!!!

Tony thank you for the background of the song. So sorry for the loss of your brother. Family is everything and the people we make music with as well. Annabelle - lives with your brother in time. I really enjoyed the song. it is a goood one.
My song - people places and things live version, and the rant, and this beautiful country, feature Herc Fede (swirlies guitar finishes). on guitar. He passed away suddenly of heart attack years after being a Dave Mathews cover band in PA (one of the best). The drummer on those tracks Ed Mc Grogan - one of my best buds took his own life after some years of depression. I was really heartbroken. When he was up here and we saw a concert in New Milford featuring Joe Bouchard and Dennis Dunaway - Ian Hunter was there. Ed went right up to him and we talked for a few minutes and told him how much we appreciated him as an artist and his music. I live in CT and am still composing and have several new tunes I am juiced about (not yet recorded). It has been a hard journey as I lean toward alternative an punk and I am aging and most of my local friends are blues and folk. Love them also. I will jump back on and listen to some more of your catalogue thank you for reaching out. I consider you a new music friend and appreciate you! Douglas B - aka dB +1 860.248.0070

Hey Doug....thanx for getting back to me! Wow..I guess you've had a pretty rough road as well...Herc & Ed...unbelievable! Yes it cuts in...and cuts deep. The scars never go away-that's for sure! I completely understand! Hey good ole Ian & Mott The Hoople....cool stuff-that's wayyyy back!!I've met ba lot of famous players to date actually too many to mention...the last one being Dave Mason-was always a Mason fan!I'm looking forward to hearing more of your new music. Please feel free to send me when available so I could get a heads up listen. Also thanks for the tel. #...maybe we could text / call whatever -to stay tight-that would be cool. Lastly I have a sound-prroof recording studio on my premises- It's the ultimate man-cave for sure. It's rather large for a music studio. Essentially a house within a house ...totally soundproofed in every way...soundboard ...acoustic tiles throughout. State of the art lasers including 3-d...leds....special effects...evn fog for those special moments! A fully stocked bar with high-end liq....which I made special...including incredible ornaments...special lighting. Various instrumentation -including about 12 guitars...a couple basses..a couple acoustics....Roland custom V digital drums....Pearl acoustics (91)....6 major keyboard including some vintage! Pushing everything through older tech- which was the indie at the time!....Roland VS-1880 18 TR. -record right to CD ( the old method)...and I still believe one of the best! I'm currently working with a drummer from one of the older time big bands on Long Island..Naked truth-celebrating their 50th. year! Still playing seasonally! I have a lot of tunes-been on the back burner for many years-hopefully get them finally done! Would be nice! Hey bro...thanx for your tel . # and you should know you have an open invite anytime your on the island....just give a heads up!!!

Hey Doug. B.....just wanted to say "thank you!!" for the good review and kind comments on "OTHERSIDE"....it's an old tune....way back in the inception of BG...just me & my brother-who since passed away suddenly in 2011! A very long history...I'm the only surviving musician /founder just carrying the torch and having some fun with the old tunes along the way! Currently looking for a musician or 2 who share the same passion to create new music- believe me it's a very tall order these days! Anyway...thanx again! I'm going to sit down and give a closer listen to your stuff!!!
    TK-(Tony Keys)- BroGreede

Hi, Douglas. if your songs are quirky, then we're all crazy! You have great appeal and I've listened to some of your songs the last couple of years, all terrific and enjoyable with melodies that have more hooks than a tackle shop and colorful lyrics with sharp wit. You're way ahead of me in your musicianship and I admire what you do. I'm very complimented that you gave my "Raindrop Soul" five stars. Many thanks and I'll come back here for more listens! John
