Jim Lyon
Born in Colorado Springs, CO, composer Jim Lyon began pursuing his musical interests from an early age. Years of church choir and clarinet finally brought him to the guitar at 15 and songwriting began soon after. He graduated from the University of Colorado with a music degree and released his first album, "Points of contact" in 1982. The same year he and his wife, Tamara, moved to Seattle where he continued to perform in many diverse venues throughout the Northwest including clubs colleges and major festivals. His musical influences include Bruce Cockburn, Johnny Clegg, Peter Gabriel, jazz and World Music artists from Africa and Latin America. Lyon's lyrics convey concern for the environment and human rights, interwoven with his interest in mytology and mystic traditions.
