Story Behind The Song
Creatively considering the common breakup scenario and wanting to express it in a fresh and emotional and dignified manner.
Song Description
A relationship that is not working, yet there is no anger or animosity, simply the realization that things cannot change for the better. There is a wish that things could be different, evidencing that there are some good aspects to the love they share, yet the daily "slow hard crash with reality" is that they are going nowhere... There is no desire to hurt or blame the other, there is no admission from the other of the similar doubts, but the suspicion is that they both realize this even without admitting it. The song expresses the dignified effort of the person to simply leave with no argument and take the blame if necessary.

The Last Of Me

Verse1
I wish I could change the scene. Wish I could change the stage.
Change the writing on the wall and the verses on this page.
But the chance of that is less strong
than my foolish hope moving blindly along
into a slow hard crash with reality
As much as I'd hope otherwise, these eyes see no surprise.
You can look away like you don't know it yet, I'll make it easy with no argument.
CHORUS
This is the last of me, keep a good memory.
This the last of me, look fast and see the last of me.
Verse 2
I wish we heard each other's calls, from right outside our walls,
but brick by brick we built them thick and raised them way too tall.
There is hope in a promise then anger in blame,
and every new day repeats the same,
slow hard crash with reality
As much as I'd hope otherwise, these eyes see no surprise.
You can look away like you don't know it yet, I'll make it easy with no argument.
CHORUS
This is the last of me, keep a good memory.
This the last of me, look fast and see the last of me.
BRIDGE
So flick our dream with one lash of your eye
and side me with all the reasons why
Free this chain that strains some weak link
There's no way back from the brink
CHORUS
This is the last of me, keep a good memory.
This the last of me, look fast and see the last of me.
The last of me, the last of me.
