Story Behind The Song
My friend, David Charles, came up with the idea, the hook and the music for this one. For a change, our recording of it wasn't doing such a great song justice. So we decided to get it 'produced'. Glad we did.
Hang on to your hat and enjoy.

L'il Dobro

You could hear the music on that fine spring afternoon.
Had to be about six weeks on the cooler side of June.
Two brothers playin' guitar down at Whitford's General Store
Folks tipped well when they liked a tune but that dobro always bought a little more
Things started slow but they played along like they would on any given day
The older one turned to his brother, wiped his brow, and just said, "hey"
We been workin' on a Lone Star thirst but the cash is kinda low
The younger said, "I ain't got no money, but I do- I do have a little dobro."
I ain't got no money but I do have a little dobro.
When the music's fine, the sun will shine and the crowd will surely grow.
Tell everybody, it's gonna be a rockin'show
I ain't got no money, but I do, do have a little dobro .
(Solo)
Folks came around from all sides o' town, there were record sales that day
Old Man Whitford never smiled but he was grinnin' wide and sayin',
Boys y'all come back here anytime but leave your money at the door
All ya got to do's sit on my porch and play, that little dobro.
I ain't got no money but I do have a little dobro.
When the music's fine, the sun will shine and the crowd will surely grow.
Tell everybody, it's gonna be a rockin'show
I ain't got no money, but I do, do have a little dobro .
I ain't got no money but I do, I do have a little dobro.
