Story Behind The Song
I wrote this song in the middle of a little private pity party. I was feeling alone and trapped, like so many of us do upon occasion, when I saw my husband Josh walk out of a concert hall. ?I Want to Run? is my ode to our friendship and the feeling that I can always turn to him . On a side note, I wrote the piano theme that repeats throughout the song when I was 15 years old in my parents living room.

I Want To Run
By Evette Dutton
Lyrics:
VERSE 1
I want to run; I need a place to hide
From the sound of what?s lacking on the inside
I need a friend; someone to hold my hand
Someone who cares; who tries to understand
CHORUS
So let me cry with you let these tears fall down
I?m lost in the crowd don?t want to look around
Let me scream with you let it all hang out
These feelings inside I?ll try to work it out
I want to run
VERSE 2
You know the ropes; you?ve seen me come and go
You?ve seen my hopes; the ones I seldom show
You?ve led the way; you?ve helped me down the path
You never change; you?re everything I lack
CHORUS
BRIDGE
Throw me a lifeline and lift me up
I?m drowning here, my strength is not enough
I need a strong hand to guide my way
Don?t let me go; I can?t wait another day
CHORUS
