Story Behind The Song
Most of my songs are personal in nature, no matter the subject. I'm not big on imagery, it's just not my style. Lyrically, I tend toward the conversational---talking to another person/persons.
When I write about relationships, I'm always the guy who never seems to get it right. A lot of low self-esteem issues seem to work their way into the songs.
This song is a man's epiphany about who and what he really is.
Song Description
I always imagined while I was writing this that it was a guy in a bar, drinking and telling his best friend all the ways he was a complete jerk, but that he's never going to change.

Lyrics
I broke her heart, and caused her pain,
and I can't do that again.
She deserves so much better than I can give to her.
And I made mistakes, I let her down
every time I was around.
I could never do the slightest things right for her.
And now she's gone, and I can only
blame myself when she got lonely,
and I can understand the reason why someone else should
take my place.
She needs a better man than me.
Cause any man can be
a better man than I can be.
A better man than me.
Well I was weak, and she was strong,
and I had no apologies when I was wrong.
No I just got defensive and said the
worst things I could say.
And I made mistakes, I let her cry
and every word said was a lie.
And she could see right through them every time.
Now she's gone...
And I can understand a hundred reasons why she wants
to fill my place.
Now she's gone...
And I can understand a thousand reasons why she wants
to fill my place.
She needs a better man than me.
