Story Behind The Song
I wrote this in 2019, being very concerned about the upcoming 2020 election.
The song is full of frustration---how do we stop those who would do harm without being violent?
How do we elicit change by sitting around talking about it?
Voting isn't always enough when the minority have the scales tipped in their favor.
So the song itself does not offer an answer, because what is the answer?
And that is the main source of frustration.

But standing here, sitting in sometimes doesn't change a thing.
And we're riding on the peace train, and it takes too long.
Don't you see how time is ticking by?
Do you want to live a future of wondering why?
Now I don't know if we stand to turn and fight,
But sometimes things are only black and white.
And don't you think it's time to run this peace train off the tracks?
We're riding on the peace train
Singing songs
Riding on the peace train
And it takes too long
Riding on the peace train
Well, that's not wrong
But we're riding on the peace train
And it takes too long
It takes too long
