Story Behind The Song
I wrote this when my dad was in his 80s and I was dealing with the idea that he wouldn't be around forever. I was reminiscing about being a little girl and dancing with him - my feet on his shoes.

Lyrics
THE OLD RAG DOLL WALTZ
VERSE 1
MANTLE CLOCK CHIMED IN THREE-QUARTER TIME
I CLIMBED ON YOUR SHOES, DAD, YOUR DANCE STEPS WERE MINE
WE SWAYED TO THE BEAT, I WAS SWEPT OFF MY FEET
IN THE OLD RAG DOLL WALTZ EVERY DANCE WAS DIVINE
CHORUS
ONE TWO THREE, ONE TWO THREE, DANCING ON AIR
YOU TAUGHT EACH STEP TO ME LEADING WITH CARE
THEN YOU KISSED ME AND SENT ME OFF INTO THE WORLD
BUT IN THE OLD RAG DOLL WALTZ I WAS JUST DADDY'S GIRL
VERSE 2
RADIO DIAL IS TUNED TO YOUR SMILE
I STILL FEEL YOU GUIDE ME ACROSS THE FLOOR TILE
I LIVE EVERY DAY BY THE LESSONS YOU GAVE
IN THE OLD RAG DOLL WALTZ YOU WERE MINE FOR AWHILE
CHORUS
BRIDGE
WHEN I HEAR THE MUSIC PLAY, WELL
I FEEL SO SAFE AND SOUND
WHILE YOU'RE DANCING WITH THE ANGELS
I'LL KEEP MY FEET ON THE GROUND
'TIL WE MEET ON HIGH
IN THE SWEET BY AND BY
CHORUS
TAG
STILL YOUR WALTZING RAG DOLL GIRL
