Heed My Call

Story Behind The Song

I was having trouble connecting with God, wondering if He was "there". I lived across from the river in Tulsa at that time and I used to go out and pray by the river in the morning after the boys went to school. I needed a job and was getting very frustrated with my life. I miss the ocean here in the Midwest. I came from Connecticut and lived in Rhode Island for a while and we had relatives that had beach front property in Maine, so in my growing up years, I spent a lot of time near the ocean. There is something about the awesomeness of God that is revealed at the shore. The longing for God and missing the ocean of my youth birthed this song. The rest of the song is God reminding me of my "call" (the great commission) to make disciples of every nation (preach the gospel to every creature) and call the lost to repentance (he that believes shall be saved).

HEED MY CALL
Words and Music by JOANNA

I took a walk down to the shore. I thought that I would see you know more.
I called your name at the top of my voice. I heard your answer and began to rejoice.

You are my Savior, my King, and my Lord. I’ll never leave you anymore.
You take my hand and I rush to your side. And in your presence I will never die.

You’re everywhere, you’re in the earth and the trees.
And you’re a person three in one if you please.
You’re Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. And in your glory I will forever boast.

You are my Savior, my King and my Lord. I’ll never leave you anymore.
You take my hand and I rush to your side. And in your presence I will never die.

He’s coming back soon to claim His church. So on that fence you had better not perch.
Hell’s portal’s open wide for sinners to fall. He says the way is narrow come heed My call.

I am your Savior, your King and your Lord. I’ll never leave you anymore.
I’ll take your hand and I’ll rush to your side. And in My presence you will never die.
