I started to see that people in the church did not really understand the concept of a surrendered life, as a whole. The 12 step groups really stress that 3rd step because people in the meetings don't usually make progress in their recovery unless that surrender takes place. My counselor made me make a list of all the things I was giving to God, including my sex life. I said "My sex life???" She must have had that reaction before because she did not even flinch when I responded to her in surprise. His will not ours be done. This concept is in the Lord's prayer, but I wonder how many people say that prayer without thinking about what they are saying.
