Story Behind The Song
The 1st two verses were written in response to some health-conscious people I knew who were just sure that (refined) sugar was gonna kill you. After spending a week in the N. Little Rock Holiday Inn without my little darlin', I came to realize that some sugar can definitely be a good thing.

Lyrics
Hey now people, have you heard the news, lotta folks got them sugar blues
They like to tell you you?re gonna die, if you eat some cake or down some pie
Now all I know is what I feel, and that to me is all that?s real
You try to tell me that I ain?t fine, I?m gonna tell you you?re outta your mind
CHORUS
I need my sugar every day, I need my sugar every way
I need my sugar every night, I need my sugar if I?m gonna feel right
It?s not what?s in your mouth, but what?s in your mind
That sets the length of your lifeline, mine?s quite long
Yours could be too, but you gotta watch out for them sugar blues
I'm a firm believer in a daily dose, of the sweets in life, I love the most
repeat CHORUS
Now the sugar I need?s a living one, and if she left I couldn?t go on
But the chemical kind, I don?t pay no mind, gimme my sugar and I feel fine
My heartbeats steady, my visions clear, all signs normal when my sugar?s here
Pressures 120 over 72, but it shoots right up with them sugar blues
repeat CHORUS
