Story Behind The Song
Erik brought this idea to the Kille/Kjelland songwriting table. On the long list of Erik's musical bucket list items is to write a soundtrack for a non-existent movie about the life of Charles Dellschau, an American folk artist whose cryptic drawings and scrapbook-style newspaper clippings were discovered collecting dust in an attic, long after he passed away in the 1920's. Dellschau's books were filled with detailed drawings of flying machines that were allegedly brainchilds of a secret Aero Club in California in the late 1800's, prior to the Wright Brothers first flight. In its core this song is about human fascination with going farther, being better, and flying higher.

Lyrics
All the passengers know that the pilot has control
Lift us higher than we've ever perched before
Where the mountains flatten out
Under sky and over clouds
In the atmosphere where balance is restored
As we rise, rise, rise
All of us are, bones and blood and skin
We are broken hearts just waiting to be fixed
With undiscovered wings longing to ascend
Life gets stuck in a horizontal mode
With leaden legs that fix us to the floor
We were born to harmonize
To navigate the skies
Tetherless and unafraid to soar
As we rise, rise, rise
All of us are, bones and blood and skin
We are broken hearts just waiting to be fixed
With undiscovered wings longing to ascend
Get caught in a crosswind
Sail away miles above ground
Just like flaming kites up to heaven
Let go, and never look down
All of us are, bones and blood and skin
So much more than what we've been
We are broken hearts just waiting to be fixed
With undiscovered wings longing to ascend
Longing to ascend
As we rise, rise, rise
Longing to ascend
As we rise, rise, rise
Longing to ascend
As we rise, rise, rise
As we rise, rise, rise
