Story Behind The Song
Many songwriters keep a running list of potential song concepts, titles and lyrics that don't get fully fleshed out until inspiration strikes and time allows. Beth has family in Missouri and one of the exits she passes en route is called Kings Highway. The idea had been sitting in her notebook for many years and she finally approached Erik with it for one of their co-writes and this song was born!

Lyrics
It's a lonely road that leads me out of this town
Thieves and vultures circle all around
All in search of a pot of gold
I swear that I can get before I grow old
Watch the years unfold
Just the start of another long sad song
My foot's on the pedal my head's long gone
Know exactly where I'm going but I'm still lost
Keep pushing on no matter what the cost
I continue on
And I feel that pull
The constant call of the Kings Highway
Always leading me on
Tar and gravel tumble through my veins
On the Kings Highway
My name is written on the dotted lines
Sun decends and I am hypnotized
Can't see past the low beam lights
But I cut through the fog tonight
Its gonna be alright
And I feel that pull
The constant call of the Kings Highway
Always leading me on
Tar and gravel tumble through my veins
On the Kings Highway
One of these days I'll crack the code
Find the balance between
The pavement and my home
Between love and the unknown
I feel the burning of the choices
In my bones
And I feel that pull
The constant call of the Kings Highway
Always leading me on
Tar and gravel tumble through my veins
On the Kings Highway
