Story Behind The Song
Beth started writing a tune called "Who can save me from this town" but Erik came up with a more empowering twist to the concept and changed the hook to "I wanna save this town." Sometimes songs are deeply personal, and sometimes they are meant to be a statement to a larger audience. This song is sort of the latter, a "hang in there" cat poster, so to speak. A better tomorrow is certainly something to hope for, but there's not always a clear direction for how best to achieve this goal with real actions.

Lyrics
A city never shakes its history
All its bitter ghosts still drifting through the streets
In a landscape of bums and billionaires
They weave unseen like vapors in the air
So we huddle close together
In the ever-changing weather
One stacked upon the other
Hoping someday we'll rise together
I wanna save this town but I don't know how
Gotta rise and find the revolution in my blood
I wanna fight the fight
I've got an itch to do what's right
I've found, I wanna save this town
A fire only burns when there is fuel
A crime is only crime when there are rules
In a wasteland of thugs and kerosene
We're on our knees to pray we'll be redeemed
Will we keep the beds we've made
When we are hungry and afraid
Or climb the iron gates
Feel the darkness fade away
I wanna save this town but I don't know how
Gotta rise and find the revolution in my blood
I wanna fight the fight
I've got an itch to do what's right
I've found, I wanna save this town
What's that appearing on the skyline?
Is it the dawning of a better time?
You might believe that all is lost
But what it lost is just the cost of your innocence
Your innocence
I wanna save this town but I don't know how
Gotta rise and find the revolution in my blood
I wanna fight the fight
I've got an itch to do what's right
I've found, I wanna save this town
I wanna save this town
