Story Behind The Song
When my mother had died the coroner's office called me so I went into her home to find notes to all of her children laid out on the dinning room table. After spending time trying to understand why this is what resulted from her missing my Pappa, her deceased husband and my late father. A note sharing the facts I surmised that hope for loving someone forever becomes a gift of life based on what is done and not in what is said.
That real love lasts longer than life itself as told in "Momma's Blues"

FOUND A NOTE ON THE TABLE DAY AFTER MOMMA DIED
IT BROKE MY HEART THEN AND EVERYDAY HAS MADE ME CRY
SHE SAID
THERE'S MORE TO LOVING THAN JUST SAYING YOU DO
AND MORE TO HOLDING ON TO SOMEONE WHEN LOVE IS TRUE
WOOO WOOO OOOH
I WASN'T THERE THE YEAR BEFORE WHEN MY PAPA DIED
AND MOMMA COULDN'T MAKE IT NOT WITHOUT HIM BY HER SIDE
SHE SAID REAL LOVE LASTS LONGER THAN YEARS THAT GO BYE
NOT MANY OF US FIND IT NO MATTER HOW WE TRY (I GOTTA TRY)
(INSTRA BREAK)
//: ://
NOW FOR ME YOU KNOW I HAD TO GO ON
& ALL THAT MOMMA TAUGHT ME I COULD NEVER PROVE HER WRONG
SHE SAID
THERE'S MORE TO LOVIN THAN JUST SAYING YOU DO
AND MORE TO HOLDIN ON TO SOMEONE WHEN LOVE IS TRUE
cause
REAL LOVE LASTS LONGER THAN ALL THOSE YEARS THAT GO BYE
& NOT MANY OF US FIND IT NO MATTER HOW WE TRY. I'M GUNNA TRY
WOOO OOO OH WOOO OH MY MOMMA'S BLUES MY MOMMA'S BLUES... YEA YEAH
