Song Description
The working class people of the north of England (Yorkshire in this case) are very proud of their 'no-frills' approach to life. They'll tell you that 'what you see is what you get', and are mistrustful of anyone who doesn't share this attitude. The 'nudism' in this song is really this attitude of 'transparency', of everything being visible on the surface. It goes hand in hand with the assertion that we're all basically the same. I always took exception to this as a boy. I didn't feel the same, nor did I believe that people were as 'transparent' as they liked to think. I left Hull as soon as I could.
