Avital Raz is a singer-songwriter from Jerusalem. She started out singing classical music and opera. In her early twenties she moved to India and studied Druphad - classical indian music - for six years. Now she performs her own material which is of mostly dark, alternative, folksy, Indian-influenced nature. Recently she has independently released her second EP entitled Skin & feathers. Her debut EP "Strange Love Songs" was released one year earlier. In 2004 she recorded a full album of songs based on James Joyce's Chamber Music poem cycle but is still unable to release it till 2011 due to the copywright protection laws on James Joyce's work. She is also nearly finished recording a full length album with producer Gai Sherf entitled "Infidelity".
